Events come in many forms. Some are big and flashy, while others are smaller, prioritizing a personal experience to connect straight into the hearts of fans.

For Omar Apollo, it was the second option that felt right

In 2024, Omar launched his own hot sauce using a direct, hands-on experience designed to connect directly with his fans. He wanted the launch event to feel approachable and fun for the people coming out to see him.

To make his idea a reality, Omar rented a food truck. The moment he set the plans in motion, we made the activation possible.

Who is Omar Apollo?

Omar Apollo is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter known for blending R&B and pop with elements of funk, latin music, and hip hop. He built his fanbase from the ground up, gaining traction after uploading his song, “Ugotme” to Spotify. Omar continued to build his music career as he participated in tours and eventually signed with Artists Without A Label.

What stands out about Omar is how he remains grounded despite his rising popularity. He’s open with his fans and casual in the way he communicates with them. In online conversations, including one Reddit post where Omar opened a Q&A, Omar has always demonstrated a relaxed and sincere tone. This part of him has remained even as his career grew.

So when it came time to launch his own hot sauce, it made sense why he wouldn’t want anything overly corporate or polished. He wanted his fans to experience something real and fun with him.

Naturally, that led him to create the Disha Hot Taco truck.

The Goal for the Event

The Disha Hot Sauce activation was designed to work within a smaller budget while still feeling intentional and well-executed.

Omar wanted a couple things first and foremost: A food truck, tacos, his hot sauce recipe featured in the food, and a place for his fans to hang out. Fans could also receive signed, limited-edition, liquid-infused vinyls of his album God Said No during the event.

The concept was simple, but the execution had to be done with the care and attention it deserved.

That’s where we came in.

What We Provided

Taking Omar’s vision in mind, The Food Truck Group handled the full operation from start to finish, ensuring a successful launch.

Our team provided:

  • Food truck rental
  • Branding and commissioning a custom sticker design for the food truck
  • Purchase of all food and ingredients
  • Cooking and prep with our chefs
  • A driver to transport the food truck to the event location
  • Full service during the activation
  • Guest service from the food truck
  • Setup and breakdown at the end of service

Omar provided the recipe for his tacos and shared bottles of Disha Hot Sauce to be used with the menu. By incorporating Disha Hot Sauce into the food allowed fans to experience it the way it was intended as part of a full meal.

Learning to cook with Omar’s taco recipe was a memorable part of the process. We witnessed the real care put behind the dishes he wanted to serve his fans, and made sure this passion carried into the food.

From Concept To Reality

Once everything was ready, our team got to work. We sourced ingredients, finalized the menu, and prepared our taco truck for the Disha Hot Sauce activation. Working inside a food truck requires careful planning as space is limited and every detail matters, facts we always take into account.

One important aspect is the branding.

For Disha Hot Taco Truck, we focused on something simple but integral to Omar’s character. We latched onto Disha Hot Sauce’s phrase, “My mom made this,” and made sure the design reflected this sentiment.

What we came up with was an artwork featuring a mother holding her infant, swaddled in a blanket and surrounded by roses to symbolize love and family. For us, branding shouldn’t be just a pretty visual. We want to prioritize a story that aligns with who the brand belongs to and what it represents.

The Day of the Event

On the day of the launch event, we brought Disha Hot Taco Truck to LA and prepared for service.

When the fans arrived to celebrate with us, our team handled orders and served delicious tacos featuring Disha Hot Sauce. Omar used this to spend time with fans, taking photos and enjoying the event with his family.

For the hours the event lasted, we kept it alive and welcoming.

Fans posted their experiences online, complimented the hot sauce, socialized with each other, and had special moments with their favorite artist.

Everyone had a good time, and here at The Food Truck Group, that’s exactly what we aim for.

Why This Works

From a brand perspective, it’s easy to overcomplicate launches and get caught up in everything that needs to be done. Omar had already partnered with Taco Bell for a big promotion of Disha Hot Sauce, so we made sure this activation offered something different.

We wanted fans to taste Disha Hot Sauce on fresh, ready made food in a casual-style event only a food truck can provide. No waiting in big lines or eating alone at a table.

For fans who couldn’t attend the Taco Bell launch or wanted to try something new, the Disha Hot Taco Truck activation offered a relaxed, social experience. Having Omar attend in person made our part of the event even more special.

Why Food Trucks and Artists Work So Well Together

Food trucks provide artists a kind of benefit that’s hard to replicate through traditional promotions.

First and foremost, food trucks are approachable. They don’t require tickets or create an overwhelming environment, making it a space that encourages people to gather, eat together, and make lasting memories.

Supporting small businesses also matters to fans. When artists take the time to collaborate with local vendors, people talk, and they are more likely to show their appreciation when their favorite artist makes that push to help.

Food trucks are also flexible. They’re mobile and don’t require a massive budget to set up. The experience can be brought almost anywhere.

And with The Food Truck Group, artists don’t have to manage the details. We handle everything from logistics, branding, food sourcing, staff, and more. We can handle anything you need to make the process simple and stress-free.

To wrap this up, we want to thank Omar for inviting us to be part of this experience. We had a great time bringing the Disha Hot Taco Truck to life with you and getting to know your fans.

This activation was made possible by Omar’s dedication, openness, and his desire to connect with his fans.
